Diemme Soil Washing has designed and installed for SIR S.p.A. (SERVIZI INDUSTRIALI ROMA) an inertization and stabilization plant (turnkey supply) to treat matrices with varying levels of pollutants, both qualitative and quantitative.
The underlying principle of the inertization and stabilization process is the segregation of contaminated matrices and the reduction of their hazard level by using inorganic binders capable of limiting the release of contaminants into the environment. The input materials include soil, waste, and sludges fed into the loading hopper, as well as ash or other powdery materials loaded through screw conveyors from silos.
The plant was installed inside an industrial building located in the industrial area of Brindisi (BR) and is complete with: dust storage and transfer system; 3 silos, each with a capacity of 23 m³, equipped with conveyors; continuous double-shaft paddle mixer; discharge elevating screw conveyor; compressed air compressor; weighing system; piping; electrical bulk; Q.E. with PLC and all the necessary instrumentation for the startup and efficient operation of the plant.
The plant was installed according to the technical design specifications outlined in the environmental authorization obtained by the SIR company and is part of a project developed by SIR in collaboration with the Polytechnic University of Bari.
